but there wasn’t enough for everyone’s greed. Though his statement was made many years ago, it
still rings true today. Greed, clouded in the name of self advancement has sparked off misuse of
resources, threatening to exhaust God given fortune to mankind.

Mbudya's tombs site for sacrifices
It was on a very hot day when I boarded a boat for Mbudya Island from the White Sands Hotel, on
the Indian Ocean coast just a few kilometres from the centre of Dar es Salaam city. Because of

Surveillance
and Enforcement strengthen in Marine Parks and
Reserves
Ten
new fast response patrol boats have been acquired to
strengthen surveillance in Marine Parks and Reserves.
Of the ten, four are fast speed boats and the
remaining are small but powerful.
The fast speed boat were purchased by the Ministry for Natural Resources and Tourism, Norwegian government (NORAD) and the Global Environmental Facility (GEF)
The small boats were purchased by GEF/UNDP, ICRAN/UNEP and WWF
Purchased of these boats will greatly assist in the MPRU efforts in protecting Dar es Salaam marine reserves against unscrupulous destructive methods and compliance.
Also they will assist Mafia Island Marine Park and Mnazi Bay-Ruvuma estuary Marine park in facilitating monitoring, law enforcing and collaborative management programmes with communities residing inside the park boundaries.

Parks and Reserve Tanzania has signed an agreement
with Pangani District Council under which the Council
will be a care taker of Maziwe Island Marine Reserve.
Under
the agreement signed by the two parties in December
2001, Pangani District Council will facilitate
effective conservation and management of Maziwe Island
Marine Reserve.
Maziwe Island
Marine Reserve:
Maziwe Island
Marine Reserve is 15 nautical miles east of Pangani
township and is representative of the diverse marine
richness of the Msambweni-Tanga ecosystem that
stretches from Mombasa south to the confluence of the
Pangani River in the India Ocean.
Maziwe Island underwent inundation in the 1970's as a
result of human interference, specifically the cutting
of trees for firewood which caused erosion. The
"Island" now only emerges from the sea at
low tide. Maziwe is known for its riches of wide
ranges of species diversity.
Over 350 species of fish, 35 genera of corals Manu
types of shore line birds; different algae and sponges
have been recorded.
